Be you, Know what you know, Change the world

Sitting watching the sun go down, birds vibrantly present, life coursing thru me, its good to be alive. A deep sense of appreciation for life as it is. So much of my life I’ve been trying to change things, knowing it could be different, better, grander, and easier for me and everyone else.Today something is different. A knowing that before I ask to change things, acknowledging how they are. A presence with what is willing to change. That the energies around me are arranged in a way that someone or something has chosen.  I know what could be joyfully different and that someone or something has to ask a question about what else is possible for me to assist. If they are not asking, then I would be doing them a disservice to assist a greater possibility occuring.  Allowing others to create and make their choices, and be aware of what else is possible that might be even grander. Do you know that being you and knowing all that you do changes the world? I’m not talking about knowledge, but knowing. Yeah that thing that’s instantaneously there when you ask for something you know is possible. I’ve been guilty of trying to change other's realities without them asking a zillion times, I can be a little slow :)  A story about me seems appropriate. I had a depressed mom who was sure she wasn't. It was a bit on the agonizing side for me to be with, always trying to chang it, and having it change back. Knowing what was possible, but only hearing the energetic crys and screams of someone who didn’t want to know how grand she could be, holding on to what was familiar. My Mom, love her so:) Doing it from a place of caring that could not be received. Well today is different. Im ready, willing and demanding to be aware of peoples choices, and choose that which creates a better place for everyone, except for those who would like to keep things as they are. I honorably leave to your reality and hope your able to choose something abundantly different someday! Being the joyfully uncomfortable space of awareness, even if its an awareness of someone else not knowing it is possible to be caring of themselves, or change everything easily. Being with it no matter how uncomfortable, Be you, know what you know, change the world. - www.Consciousadventuretours.com-  Find out what makes you come alive-

Maui: An Invitation to Be Me

Of the many magical take homes from Maui, the one I return to over again is a particular day of snorkeling. Where water meets land, I could see the waves rolling in and out from the perspective of under the water. My senses were totally enlivened by the ocean’s vibrant blue, foamy, white waves, and yellow fish darting in and out of the reef.

Under water acoustics are unrivaled by anything – sand tings as it’s moved by the current, whale song plays in the distance and the sound of snorkel bubbles blurping all around commune in a symphony unlike any other. This, and my body buoyant in the crisp water, all created stark contrasts that popped me out of the hum-drums of daily living and into the wonder of ocean life.

You'd think that all this beauty would be easy but quite honestly, the first few days in Maui were a challenge. The sensations there brought me back to childhood. I grew up on the beach; learned to sail by the time I was 11, water-skied the San Diego Bay in the summers and slept often in a tent, the powerful Pacific Ocean rocking my child body to sleep by night. Our family motto was everything tastes better at the beach and eating Maui’s sweet strawberries and juicy citrus fruit in the sand reminded me of how incredibly true this is for me still. The difficulty was that somewhere along the line after moving to Colorado, I decided I hated the beach lifestyle and Maui required me to get close and personal with my points of view. It invited me to soften, open, and expand.

Maui asked me to discover a fresh gratitude for the upbringing I had completely subverted. In Maui I started unearthing it. Started acknowledging how lucky I was and how lucky I am.

Back to snorkeling… Underwater, I watched the waves roll in and out of the cove. Everything slowing and softening, I noticed how easy the fish were. They gave way completely to the ocean’s movement. Didn’t struggle against the current, instead seeming to find the play in letting the tide push and pull them around. Taking queues from the fish and feeling encumbered by my fins, I took them off and softened my body, finding movement that I had forgotten existed. I relaxed and found myself gliding with the current, rolling side to side easily and joyfully. I was playful – a kid again. Playful with the help of the fish and the ocean.

And here’s the thing. The ocean showed me that energy is always stirring. It’s pushing and pulling all the time above water too. Today I think I’ll give way to the movement of living and go with the flow. Tuck and dive and roll and play in the joy of pure energy. Use it to propel me forward into the future I’m creating for me and for everyone.

How about you?

Maui, Hawaii at a Glance

Hey Blog Readers,

Lucas here. I am so excited to share my first official Conscious Adventure Tours blog with you! It wasn't but a few weeks ago that Matty and I were manifesting this life-long dream of ours to help people uncover their higher selves, and in a medium of life that we ourselves are impassioned about; adventure! It's amazing what happens when your energy aligns and things seem to effortlessly fall into place. One moment we were picking up carpentry and construction jobs to carry us through, dreaming up CAT, and the next we had our flights booked and ready to set out for our first official adventure. Brand new bicycles in tow, it wasn't hard to say goodbye to the quiet beauty of a Colorado winter and hit the sands of Hawaii for the holidays.
Thus far it's been nothing short of incredible, start to finish. Upon landing we found ourselves at one of the more dubious Maui airports before shacking up at the Seaside Motel. Our taxi to the motel was an immediate practice of choice. We weren't quite paying attention initially to asking Maui for the more kind and easy personality types we prefer to hang out with. We ended up being shuttled by a seemingly easy-going and nice Danish woman who then turned out to be maybe not so nice, perhaps even angry; okay downright pissy. Matt and I were quick to dive into the tools of choice! Choose not to judge her, stay focused, just get to the motel and chalk it up to an experience. Then we were consciously asking for joyful and happy people to join us as we moved forward. And it wasn't long before they began to show up. Using some quick tools of expansion and question, we branched out and found ourselves back to the joy of the moment, asking ourselves "Okay, what blissful people can we meet, what possibilities are on the line, what qualities do we want to experience from this string of events, etc." We achieved our first clearing of any perceived negativity. Phew!
Once checked in, unloaded and good to go, I stepped out the motel door, eager to taste Maui in the light of day. It was simply gorgeous. Within moments I met my first friend Arlena where she invited Matt and I to take our first canoe excursion! The electricity of travel was already revealing its magic presence and introducing a plethora of possibilities.
After our incredible canoe excursion and swim, Matt and I rested in front of our Seaside Motel allowing the universe to reveal the next part of our trip. We then met our next friend, Doug. Doug is a local musician who lived on the Big Island. He invited us to tour southern Maui. Doug was my ideal idea of the warmth and generosity of the local culture. He took us on a journey that explored Hawaiian culture, looking into both its history and musical folklore. Then to be able to take in Hawaii through the lens of a Hawaiian native musician was colorful to say the least! We discussed extensively ongoing issues in Hawaii including gender, and the quote unquote definition of being an energy slut: receiving everything that shows up no matter what no matter how. BAM. At a certain point I was surprised and intrigued to hear Doug say that if he were a woman in Hawaii life would be easier. That night the three of us stayed at the motel again.
The next day Matt and I explored freely. We journeyed through Kihei, extending our rental car for next to nothing, showing us that it has "paid" off well just being here! We relaxed in a town full of beautiful homes, beaches, and people and dined on the most phenomenal fish tacos to be found on almost every corner. That night we slept on the beach. The next morning we awoke on Christmas to a not-so-friendly dog who quickly had us packing our things. We set off in search of coffee and surfboards and shared our day in the ocean on a 10 foot long board catching waves in Maui.

What a glorious Maui Christmas.

Conscious in Seattle

Sitting in the Seattle airport feeling all in the mood and inspired.

I find airports are one of the best places to collect your thoughts. The rush of people heading in every which direction becomes a pattern. It almost becomes melodic. You watch people from around the world, catching their flights to a brand new destination. It's exciting. And calming. What most people don't know is that just by stepping onto an airplane, they've activated their inner adventurer.

This thought line lead to what Conscious Adventure Tours is today, a medium for adventure.
Heres what conscious adventure tours looks like: To activate or accelerate inner shift that gives way to greater space and the lightness you can be. We use the vehicle of travel as a method to explore this inner place. When we step out of the normal routine and set aside our normal distractions and then add a new landscape and a new language with new foods and new smells and a new culture we are left with a fantastic opportunity to see ourselves in a new light. One without barriers or judgments it is a chance to re-create you! To create a more joyous, energetic, sexual and excited being. A being that you have always been, a being the demands to create a life of ease and abundance!
Experience Conscious Adventure Tours and begin the transformation of a new you and a new world!

So, let's go.

Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail – More than a Walk

Long ago, in a much shorter time (18 years shorter), I took a five-week hike through Oregon. For at least 8 hours every day I lost my mind and fully engaged in and with my body. The machinery upstairs slowed down so much that one day, stopped at Horse Lake for a breather, I was able to experience something brand new.

A group of deer visited the lake for a drink and I was able to be present and curious with them beyond anything I knew before. I threw an imaginary ball in front of them and the strangest thing happened… they all jumped. That’s when I started to wonder if “energy” stuff was real. I figured I might as well keep the game going so I tucked myself in the underbrush pinging energy left and right, right and left, and the deer kept responding. They were as present with me as I was with them. Getting out of the familiar, the regular, the box I was then calling my life was where I could access the command I had with energy.

Fast forward to a recent adventure in Australia… I biked Munda Biddi trail. It was a full-speed thrust into the Aussie outback -- 1000 km just me, my bike, and the earth. I don’t remember a lot because there was so much space for me to be me. The real changes happened when I got back to the Perth. As we were driving through a turnabout all the sudden the turnabout wasn’t there and I realized I had straightened out the road.

Sound crazy to you? There was a time in my life that stuff like this seemed way out of the realm of possibilities too. But change is actually easier than you might think. All it takes is space, curiosity and willingness.

Conscious Adventure Tours (CAT) is a culmination of those energies. It’s about changing the solid realness people strive to have as their lives. It’s about helping people change and step into total fluidity.

Playfully Yours - Matt
